In the UK, these frames hold artwork measuring 40 × 50cm. In the US, the same frame is sold as 16 x 20 inch, holding a 40.6 × 50.8cm picture. One of the most popular print sizes: large enough for living rooms and bedrooms, and a classic choice for showing a 30 × 40cm print with an even mount.

What size is a 40 x 50 cm frame?
In the UK, it holds a 40 × 50 cm picture. The outside is bigger by the moulding width, for example about 47 × 57 cm with a 35 mm moulding.
Is 40 x 50 cm the same as 16 x 20 inches?
Nearly, but not exactly. 16 x 20 inches is 40.6 × 50.8 cm, a few millimetres bigger. In the UK we make this frame at 40 × 50 cm, and in the US at 16 x 20 inches. If your print is in exact inches, measure it, and choose made to measure if it's larger than 40 × 50 cm.
What fits in a 40 x 50 cm frame?
A 40 × 50 cm picture fits exactly. With a mount, a 30 × 40 cm print sits with an even 5 cm border all round, and an A4 print with about 10 cm.
