A4 picture frames and photo frames hold artwork measuring 21 × 29.7cm (8.3 × 11.7in), the standard paper size. Frame sizes match the artwork, so an A4 frame fits an A4 print exactly. To show a smaller piece with a border, add a mount for A4 frames. Compare A5 and A3, or the close inch size 8×12in. A4 looks crisp in white or natural wood.

What size is an A4 frame?
An A4 frame holds an A4 print, 21 × 29.7 cm (8.3 × 11.7 in). The outside of the frame is bigger by the moulding width, for example about 28 × 36.7 cm with a 35 mm moulding.
What fits in an A4 frame?
A 21 × 29.7 cm picture fits exactly. With a mount, smaller pictures also work: A5 print (about 3.1 cm border at the sides and 4.4 cm top and bottom); 8x6 photo (about 2.9 cm border at the sides and 4.7 cm top and bottom); 7x5 photo (about 4.2 cm border at the sides and 6.0 cm top and bottom).
Will a 10x8 photo fit an A4 frame?
Not neatly. A 10x8 photo (20.3 x 25.4 cm) is a different shape from A4 (21 x 29.7 cm), so it leaves gaps. Use a 10x8 frame, or an A4 frame with a mount cut for 10x8.
