Measuring Your Artwork & Frame
- Measure the full width and height of your artwork, this is the measurement you need to input into the mount designer. If you have a standard size artwork like A3, you can select this from the presets dropdown.
- Measure your frame’s visible opening at the back side. If you have a standard size frame, you can select this from the presets dropdown - although we always advise double checking.
- Our mount designer will automatically figure out the border widths you need for your mount. We'll cut the mount window with a small overlap to hold the artwork neatly.

What is a mount (mat) and do I need one?
A mount is the border that sits between your artwork and the frame. It creates breathing space, prevents the image touching the glaze, and gives an elevated gallery look.
What sizes can you make for custom picture mounts?
We can make just about any size mount you need. The smallest mount we can make is 89mm x 89mm and the largest is 815mm x 1200mm.

Can you make mounts for non-standard ratios and panoramic prints?
Absolutely. Enter your exact dimensions and we’ll build to fit. Our configurator supports long panoramic and uncommon formats.
What’s the difference between your different paper options?
Archival Matte – 200gsm (Most popular)
- Finish: Smooth, true matte (no sheen).
- Look/feel: Clean, modern; crisp lines.
- Best for: Just about everything.
- Why pick it: Versatile, great value, zero glare under glass.
Epson Premium Luster Photo – 260gsm
- Finish: Semi-gloss “photo lab” surface.
- Look/feel: Punchy colours, deep blacks, subtle texture.
- Best for: Photography and detailed digital art where you want a photographic feel.
- Why pick it: Vibrant and sharp without the full glare of gloss.
Hahnemühle German Etching – 310gsm
- Finish: Heavily textured, matte fine-art paper.

How do I measure my artwork for a perfect fit?
Measure the exact image or paper size edge-to-edge. This is what you should input into the mount designer (Step 1).
We make the window slightly smaller so the edges overlap by 5mm. This helps to hold the artwork in place. Details on the very edge of your artwork may be cropped.
What file types and resolution do you accept?
We accept JPG and PNG. Aim for 300 dpi at the final print size (we advise a minimum of 200 dpi). Our custom frame designer tool will tell you if your file quality is suitable for the specific frame you're creating.
We accept no responsibility for the resulting print quality if the artworks supplied are low resolution/DPI or have been scaled up beyond their original size.
What happens if my upload isn’t large enough for the size I want?
In this case we recommend reducing the size of your frame, or adding a mount to keep the artwork smaller within a larger frame.
How will my order arrive?
Our mounts are carefully sandwiched between barrier boards for shipment. They will arrive in an envelope or box, depending on the size.
How long do custom picture mounts take to ship?
As everything is made to order, please allow 5 working days for us to create your custom mount

Are your mounts conservation-grade?
Yes. Our mounts and backers are acid-free to help protect your artwork over time.
What if my mount arrives damaged?
Send us some photos of the damage and we will send you a free replacement, no questions asked.
Do you accept returns?
No, as our custom mounts are made bespoke for you we don't accept any returns.
