Scared of Moths

Scared of Moths

Brenna Murray is a multidisciplinary artist and graphic designer based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her work explores the profound ordinary moments that shape identity, centering themes of community, love, spirituality, generational wisdom, and humanity’s relationship to others, ourselves, nature and animals. Drawing from personal memory, family archives, and her upbringing in rural California, Brenna’s paintings reflect working-class life, ancestral connection, and the quiet resilience found in everyday moments.
With a background in graphic design, Brenna blends technical design systems, color theory, and structured composition with intuitive, fluid painting and mixed-media experimentation. This hybrid approach allows her to build narrative worlds that extend beyond the canvas, inviting viewers to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with shared humanity. Her practice emphasizes preservation, both environmental and cultural, honoring the people, places, and stories that shape who we become.
