Exclusive to East Side Studio London
Sweet Bean Paste - Laurenleely - Limited Edition
Description
Inside a small dorayaki shop, red beans boil on the hob, soft pancakes plump up on the griddle, and cherry blossoms sway in the breeze outside.
Warm pink hues wash over the small shop, sunlight filters through the cherry blossom petals that line the street.
Celebrating the cherry blossom season, I’m so happy to release the newest addition to the Between The Lines Collection! Inspired by the Japanese novel Sweet Bean Paste, by Durian Sukegawa.
The heartwarming tale takes place in a dorayaki store in Tokyo, and unfolds as a story about unlikely friendship, the beauty of wholehearted creation, and mindfully engaging with the world around us.
“A sweetly scented breeze blew along Cherry Blossom Street. Sentaro stood over a hot griddle inside the Doraharu shop, as he did all day every day, cooking pancakes for his dorayaki.”
"The aroma seemed to leap up at him, as if it were alive, racing through his nose to the back of his head. Unlike the ready made paste, this was the smell of fresh, living beans. It had depth. It had life."
Limited edition of just 55. Designed by Laurenleely. Hand signed & numbered.
